Emma Watson advocates for gender equality in new short film ‘Hurdles’

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26 (UPI) — Emma Watson has debuted a new short film about the fight for gender equality entitled Hurdles.

The clip released by the Harry Potter star on Twitter Saturday, is set to Sia’s hit “Chandelier” and features footage from the women’s Olympic hurdles final from the 1964 Tokyo games.

“Women and girls have always faced hurdles but that’s never stopped us,” Watson narrates before important dates in the fight for women’s rights appear onscreen.

“There are many huge and high hurdles left to jump,” Watson narrates. “The race is still on. Every day of every year of our lives, but we will cross the finishing line. No one can stop us,” Watson continues.

“Excited to show you this small film I helped make. Hope it gets you going! #Hurdles #GenderEqualityTogether,” the 26-year-old wrote alongside the video on Twitter.

Watson, who is a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, recently gave a speech calling on universities to ensure the safety of women on campus.
