MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 23 (UPI) — When you look at the NFL’s top wide receivers through two games in 2016, you could be surprised to see Stefon Diggs ranked No. 1.

You might also be surprised to find out that the Minnesota Vikings’ rising star missed practice Friday. Diggs has been a great find for fantasy football team owners this season, leading the league in receiving yards and becoming the main focus of the Vikings’ offense.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said that the move to sit out Diggs Friday was a precaution. Chad Graff of the Pioneer Press reported that Diggs is still expected to play against the Carolina Panthers. Diggs had nine receptions for 182 yards and a score in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. He had seven receptions for 103 yards in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Last season, Diggs had 52 receptions for 720 yards and four touchdowns.

Although it looks like Diggs will play, his match up is something to worry about. The Panthers have allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season.

“He’s just kind of one of those guys. When I first got here and started watching tape, he just kind of popped,” quarterback Sam Bradford recently told reporters, via ESPN’s Ben Goessling. “You just kind of notice him. He’s always getting separation, he seems to always be finding a way to get open. Then tonight, he was pretty much unstoppable out there.”

Despite Bradford’s love for Diggs, I think the reigning NFC offensive player of the week is a boom-or-bust WR3 this week against the Panthers. The Vikings are playing its first game since losing star running back Adrian Peterson. Diggs has the entire NFL on notice after his brilliant start to the season. The Panthers should clamp down on the speedster and force the game into the hands of Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiatta.
