French President General Charles de Gaulle (R) and German Chancellor Dr Konrad Adenauer hug on January 22, 1963 at the Elys㩥Palace in Paris after signing the French-German cooperation treaty. France and Germany on Tuesday will celebrate 50 years since the landmark treaty sealed their post-war reconciliation aiming to paper over nagging differences between Europe’s two powerhouse neighbours.
