Japanese resort offers unique spa treatments

Feb. 22 (UPI) — The Yunessun Spa Resort in Japan offers guests an opportunity to bathe in luxury — literally: red wine, sake, coffee, and now, white chocolate.

About 50 miles southwest of Tokyo in Hakone, Yunessun is home to four separate spas, each boasting a different bathing experience.

Throughout the year, visitors can choose from a red wine, green tea, sake or coffee bath. Antioxidants found in red wine are believed to slow aging. Bathing in it is believed to date back to Eyptian Queen Cleopatra. Sake has the potential to remove freckles and age spots, while green tea is believed to be good for your skin and immune system.

Every February Yunessun also offers a chocolate experience — this year the resort kicked off its chocolate event with dark chocolate and switched to white chocolate after Valentine’s Day.

Bathing in chocolate is said to strengthen the immune system while working to improve the appearance of skin thanks to anti-aging and anti-cellulite properties. Chocolate also contains polyphenols, which scientists think work to help combat cancer.

A $250 all-day pass allows visitors to bathe in each of the resort’s beverage spas.

Yunessun’s chocolate spas are available through February.
