NEW YORK, Sept. 30 (UPI) — Jay Z has signed a two-year TV and film production contract with the Weinstein Company and has several projects already in motion.
“I’m excited to tell stories from real-life prophets, whom [sic] through their struggles have changed the world for the better and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight,” Jay Z said in a statement announcing the deal. “I’m already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline, and I’m looking forward to discovering others.”
Jay Z’s current production credits include Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, Top Five with Chris Rock, and Annie, which starred Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx.
This announcement comes of the heels of the news that Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service is recording unprecedented losses since the mogul took over in 2015.
