SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Seattle Mariners infielder Chris Taylor is expected to miss four to six weeks because of a broken right wrist.

The Mariners made the announcement Saturday.

Taylor was hurt Friday on what was ruled a foul ball. He told the team that the pitch hit him. Taylor stayed in the game and singled on the next pitch against Milwaukee, but was pulled for a pinch-runner.

Taylor had been competing with Brad Miller for the starting shortstop job. He was hitting .421 this spring after batting .287 in 47 games last season.
