SPOKANE, Wash., Jan. 5 (UPI) — The icy airport at Spokane, Wash., closed Tuesday morning after United Airlines Flight 812 slid off a runway and struck a snowbank.

No injuries were reported among the 130 passengers on board the Boeing 737, which remained off the runway after evacuations.

There also was no damage reported to the aircraft, which was en route to Denver.

After the incident occurred, at 6 a.m., the airport announced a temporary closure until it could ensure adequate braking conditions on its runways.
