Val-d’Isère (France) (AFP) – Slovenia’s Ilka Stuhec won the women’s World Cup combined race in the French resort of Val d’Isere on Friday, following on from her two downhill victories at Lake Louise in Canada.
Stuhec, 26, won in 2min 40.33sec, beating Michelle Gisin of Switzerland, who came in 0.12sec behind to record her first podium finish on the circuit.
Italy’s Sofia Goggia was third, 0.16sec behind Stuhec, and now sits second in the overall World Cup standings behind the American Mikaela Shiffrin, who chose to miss Val d’Isere.
Switzerland’s Lara Gut, last year’s overall World Cup champion, drops to third in the overall standings after failing to finish the second, slalom leg of the day.
