George W. Bush plane diverted due to smoke smell in cockpit

DALLAS, June 16 (UPI) —

Former President George W. Bush was home in Texas Sunday after his plane was diverted to Kentucky due to the smell of smoke in the cockpit, his spokesman said.

The Gulfstream IV private jet made an unscheduled stop in Louisville Saturday night while flying from Philadelphia to Dallas.

An FAA spokeswoman told CNN the pilot reported smelling smoke and landed in Louisville to have the aircraft checked. There was no word on whether a problem was located.
