DIFI Launches 'Your Family, Your Lens' Photography Contest

Doha, March 10 (QNA) – Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), has opened the "Your Family, Your Lens" photography competition in collaboration with the Qatar Photographic Society as part of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family.

The competition aims to focus on the critical role of family in community development, examine the challenges faced by families and highlight the crucial contribution they make to the progression of society.

DIFI, a member of Qatar Foundation, and the organizing committee have invited society members of all nationalities to participate in the competition with cash prizes of over QR 30,000 up for grabs.

Participants are encouraged to join the 20th anniversary celebrations with the best adjudged photographs showcased during the Doha Conference 2014 taking place on April 16 and 17 at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

In line with DIFI’s main objective of focusing on the pivotal role of families, the organizing committee believes that photographs can successfully capture this meaningful message by reflecting personal thoughts and aspirations, while painting an expressive picture of families.

Entrants should ensure that the pictures submitted are of the highest quality and shed light on their unique artistic vision. The winning images, as well as the best photographic entries, will be displayed in the exhibition Area during the conference.

DIFI is a leading international institution in Qatar that supports research, policy and outreach programs that promote the development of Arab families. With research as its core focus, It supports a wide range of international, regional and local evidence-based studies relating to marriage and family structure, women, fertility and demography, child and family safety, and parenting. The Institution’s body of work includes contributions to the U.N. Secretary General’s campaign to end violence against women; international and regional colloquia in partnership with most U.N. funds and programmers, including UNDESA, UNFPA, UNAIDS and UNICEF; and the funding and development of a wide range of publications on family in the new millennium.
