Former CNN Science Correspondent: I Swayed the Newsroom Against Fair Coverage of Climate Change

Miles O’Brien, a former CNN science correspondent and anchor, and a science correspondent for PBS told StarTalk host Neil DeGrasse Tyson that while he was with CNN, he lobbied people in the newsroom in an attempt to convince them that there was no scientific debate on climate change. He said that he tried to convince CNN employees that giving equal time to the different sides of the climate change debate was “obfuscation.” O’Brien reported that he ultimately was able to convince the newsroom that it was wrong to provide balanced coverage of the climate change debate.
