Dowd: GOP Must Stop Judging Like ‘Mad Men’ in ‘Modern Family’ America

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos,” former chief strategist for the 2004 Bush-Cheney presidential campaign Matthew Dowd said the Republican party is too much like the television show set in the 1960s, AMC’s “Mad Men” in an America that is more like the ethnically and sexually diverse sitcom, ABC’s “Modern Family.”

When the discussion turned to religious rights bills and immigration, Dowd said, “I have said the face Republican party has been problematic. I have described them as Mad Men in Modern Family world, but  come on, this is an opportunity and in my view, you can’t say Marco Rubio doesn’t look like and talk like America.  Now they have a lot of problems on intolerance and lot of problems on judging the rest of America that they need to solve.”
