Police in Oklahoma say a mother has married not one, but two of her biological children.
On Wednesday, the mother and her daughter were arrested for incest, reports NBC4i.
43-year-old Patricia Ann Spann and Misty Velvet Dawn Spann, 25, married earlier this year, investigators say.
Oklahoma Department of Human Services investigators discovered the relationship while investigating a complaint regarding two children in their home.
The affidavit says Patricia Spann lost custody of Misty and her two other children when they were young. The children were then adopted and raised by their paternal grandmother.
Patricia Spann said she did not have contact with Misty Spann until around two years ago, but said the two “hit it off” when they reunited.
According to Patricia Spann, she did not think it was illegal to marry her daughter because her name is no longer listed on her daughter’s birth certificate.
Court records show Patricia Spann married one of her sons in 2008, but that marriage was annulled in 2010.
Oklahoma incest laws prohibit blood relatives from getting married or having sexual relations with each other. The felony charge carries up to 10 years in prison.
Bond was set at $10,000 for both Patricia and Misty Spann.
