Boehner Mocks Conservative Amnesty Opponents

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) reportedly mocked amnesty opponents in Congress on Thursday during a lunch event in his home district.

“Here’s the attitude. Ohhhh. Don’t make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard,” Boehner reportedly “whined” at Brown’s Run County Club in Madison Township, according to Cincinnati.com. “We get elected to make choices. We get elected to solve problems and it’s remarkable to me how many of my colleagues just don’t want to … They’ll take the path of least resistance.”

Boehner, who has also said he was “hellbent” on passing amnesty and agreed with President Barack Obama the most on immigration, also reportedly “said he’s been working for 16 or 17 months trying to push Congress to deal with immigration reform.”

After Boehner and the GOP leadership released their “immigration principles,” momentum for immigration legislation stalled when Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) denounced the principles as “amnesty.”
