Issa: We'll Hold Eric Holder Accountable on Fast and Furious

Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, asserted on Friday at a National Rifle Association convention that his investigation of the Operation Fast and Furious scandal will continue “until the full truth of Fast and Furious is exposed to every American, and that senior officials at the Department of Justice are held accountable, and yes, that includes Eric Holder.”

Issa has issued subpoenas for roughly 80,000 documents, but the stonewalling continues: the Justice Department has given him only 6,000 pages, while giving the rest to its own Inspector General.  Issa said to the NRA members:

The left wing in the Obama administration and supporting it would gear up. The administration would gear up with lawyers rather than accountants so they could give non-answers rather than real answers, and the outside media would attack the credibility of myself, of my committee officials and those who support us.

But although Obama’s administration has given guns to criminal cartels, they have a different perspective on Americans owning guns. They have their own agenda on gun control; Obama told Sarah Brady, the former president of the Brady Campaign, “I just want you to know that we are working on [gun control]. We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.” He has stated that Congress couldn’t put restrictions on how he wanted to spend to fund lobbying for gun control and the National Institute of Health studies of gun control.  He has tried to ban target practice on public lands. His administration told federal agents involved in the Fast & Furious scandal to support gun control regulations during their congressional testimony. The Obama administration instituted a ban on importing “historic” semi-automatic rifles into the US.

President Obama strongly supports the UN Arms Trade Treaty.  The administration nominated Andrew Traver, someone who supports gun bans, as the head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Obama appointed Elena Kagan, who pushed for gun control under Bill Clinton, and Sonia Sotomayor, who believes that there is no individual right to “private self-defense” with a gun, to the Supreme Court.

With Barack Obama, the only ones allowed to have guns are criminals south of the border.
