HHS Revises Obamacare … But Leaves Contraceptive Mandate in Place

Today, the Department of Health and Human Services unveiled an update to their Obamacare regulations that forced businesses owned by religious people to cover contraceptives and other care violating the religious scruples of the owners. The goal: to avoid the scrutiny of the courts, which seem to be ruling more and more commonly that the Obamacare mandate violates religious freedom.

But the update didn’t change a thing for those businesses. Instead, they granted additional leeway for religiously-based organizations, while still cracking down on non-religious businesses owned by religious people. That means that companies like Hobby Lobby would still be forced to violate the religious freedoms of their owners.
