Trayvon's Mother Testifies She Recognizes Him Screaming on 911 Tape

On Friday, Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, testified on the stand that it was her son’s voice screaming for help on the 911 call made the night of his shooting by a bystander. “Ma’am, that screaming or yelling, do you recognize that?” de la Rionda asked her. She said she did, and said it was “Trayvon Benjamin Martin.” She also stated that Martin had two tattoos, one on his shoulder and one on his wrist, all of relatives’ names.

When the defense began by offering condolences, the prosecutor objected. The defense asked Fulton whether she was holding out hope that Martin wasn’t responsible for his own death, and that that could have led her to misidentify the voice. “I heard my son screaming,” Fulton answered.

The prosecution did not call Tracy Martin, who told police shortly after the shooting that it was not his son’s voice on the tape.
