Suspect Held on $2 Million Bail in Beating Death of WWII Vet

Demetrius L. Glenn is being held on $2 million bail after being charged in the attack which took the life of Delbert “Shorty” Benton.

Benton was an Army combat vet who was wounded in WWII. On August 21, he was beaten with large flashlights and left for dead while sitting in his car, waiting for a friend outside of Eagles Lodge in Spokane.

Glenn made an initial court appearance in Spokane County District Court on August 26, where he was charged with first degree murder and first degree robbery.

Fox News reports that District Judge Richard Leland said “the brutality of the attack and the vulnerability of the [88-year old] victim make the high bail proper.”

The second suspect in the Benton’s death will appear in court on August 27.

As Breitbart News reported over the weekend, thousands gathered in Spokane to honor Benton with a candlelight vigil on August 23.
