A new national poll has found that Obamacare’s unpopularity increased the most among uninsured Americans since Obamacare–the law that was intended to help the uninsured–went live on Oct. 1.
In an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, “fully half of uninsured Americans now think the law was a bad idea. In September, 34% saw it that way.”
Obamacare has dragged Obama down as well. Half of Americans disapprove of Obamacare and 54% disapprove of Obama, which is a record low in the poll that was conducted between Dec. 4 and Dec. 8.
According to the poll, 60% cited Obamacare as the “chief factor” in how they viewed Obama.
Obama needs uninsured Americans, especially uninsured young Americans, to sign up for Obamacare to prevent a so-called “death spiral,” but low-income and uninsured Americans are realizing they not qualifying for the subsidies they were promised. In addition, the HealthCare.Gov website continues to have numerous problems that have made it beyond difficult for Americans to even browse Obamacare plans let alone enroll in them.
“The president is being weighed down by one issue, his health-care law,” said Democratic pollster Fred Yang, who helped direct the poll “It’s probably fair to say that as goes health care, so goes the Obama presidency for the next year.”
The poll surveyed 1,000 adults from December 4-8 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points.
