Man Allegedly Hit Store Clerks with a Bat, Threatened to Kill Over Food Stamp Refund

A Naples, Florida, man allegedly threatened to kill a convenience store clerk and hit two employees in the head with a baseball bat on Saturday when the store’s employees refused to give him a cash refund for purchases he made with food stamps, reports the Naples Daily News.

Andrew T. Grant, 24, faces aggravated battery, criminal mischief, and obstruction of justice charges.

When Grant demanded a cash refund for his food stamp purchases, the store clerk told him that was not possible.

“Another employee told Grant he should not come to the store anymore because he had a bad attitude, according to an arrest report. Grant then began knocking packages of cigarette lighters and lottery tickets off the counter and told the employees he’d kill them if they called 911, deputies said,” reports Naples Daily News.

The arrest report states Grant hit the two employees in the head with a baseball bat when they chased after him.
