Americans face a plethora of diseases that, each year, claim many lives. HIV/AIDS is not one of the biggest threats. Nonetheless, Representative Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) tweeted a message about “World AIDS Day” and gave a helpful link for those who want to “unite in the fight.”
According to the Missouri Department of Health, the leading cause of death in the Show Me State is heart disease. That is closely followed by all cancers, then stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases, and then respiratory disease. AIDS does show up as a leading causes of death in Missouri, but it is down the list–in the number fourteen slot.
In fact, suicide and “unintentional injuries,” such as car accidents and drowning, rank higher than AIDS.
Nonetheless, Hartzler tweeted the following AIDS Day message:
Today is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV. http://t.co/oL3PNjOIEU pic.twitter.com/yb5hjas5QA
