As President Obama traveled to a funeral in Charleston, South Carolina to deliver a eulogy today, he had a special Republican guest with him aboard Air Force One.

Speaker John Boehner, confirmed a White House official, joined the president on Air Force along with Republican House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

The trip is Boehner’s first flight with President Obama, a rare sign of bi-partisanship as they travel together for the funeral of Rev. Clementa Pickney, one of the victims of the church shooting in Charleston.

Obama is expected to meet with the victims’ families after he delivers his eulogy today.
