Legendary Film Critic Roger Ebert Dies at 70

Roger Ebert, the iconic film critic whose “thumbs up” stamp of approval convinced millions of movie goers to give his recommendations a go, has died after a long battle with cancer. He was 70.

The shocking news came a day after Ebert announced he was cutting back his workload to fight a recurrence of cancer.

Ebert, along with longtime film critic and friend Gene Siskel, created the syndicated Siskel & Ebert movie review show in the 1980s which helped give prominence to movie criticism.
