'Lost' Star Slams Obama, Congress in Anti-NSA Spying Video

The former star of ABC’s Lost is behind a new, crowdfunded video campaign to make people aware of the intrusive nature of the current NSA domestic spying program. In short, it’s an affront to the U.S. Constitution and rights we hold dear as Americans, according to the video.

Evangeline Lilly narrates and produced the clip in conjunction with Fight for the Future, an Internet-centric group, and Demand Progress. The organizations hope to educate the public on just how much the U.S. government knows about them without their permission.

The five-plus minute video features some ’50s retro clips as well as a snippet from The Big Lebowski and the Muppets. Its message is grim all the same.

“The president,” Lilly says in her narration, “the NSA and their lawyers have tried to deflect public outrage by distorting the facts and misleading the public about the process.”

“I want to live in a world where people are free to express themselves without the fear that the government is constantly monitoring them,” said Lilly in a press statement. “Mass government surveillance is a dangerous form of Internet censorship, and I hope this video will encourage everyone to hold governments and corporations accountable when they violate our rights.”
