Alight, alright, alright…

The University of Houston is paying Matthew McConaughey $135,000 to deliver a commencement speech to its graduating class of May 2015.

The University announced it has also agreed to compensate McConaughey for his travel expenses, as well as pay an additional 15 percent commission to Celebrity Talent International for closing the deal.

McConaughey, born and raised in the Lonestar state, is a University of Texas, Austin alumnus and resides primarily in Austin with his wife, Camila Alves, and their three children.

Over the years, the A-lister has proven himself to be full of wisdom and insight:

“You lose something in your life, or you come into a conflict, and there’s gonna come a time that you’re gonna know: there was a reason for that. And at the end of your life, all the things you thought were periods, they turn out to be commas. There was never a full stop in any of it,” McConaughey told Esquire in 2011.

During an interview with Details, he stated: “The best advice comes from people who don’t give advice…always listen to your inner Jiminy Cricket…when you get to certain parts in the path of life when you get to run downhill a bit, why trip yourself.”

Let us not forget his Best Actor speech at the Oscars in 2014.

There are three things to my account that I need each day. One of them is something to look up to, another is something to look forward to, and another is someone to chase.

First off, I want to thank God because that’s who I look up to. He’s graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or another human hand. He has shown me that it’s a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates.

To you dad, you taught me what it means to be a man. To my mother, who is here tonight, who taught me and my two older brothers, demanded, that we respect ourselves. And what we in turn learned was then we were better able to respect others.

The 45-year-old Oscar winner has decided to donate the funds from the speech to his charity, the  Just Keep Living Foundation, which offers high school students valuable skills sets and life tools.

The commencement speech will be broadcast live on May 15. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. CT.
