Following an admission he smoked “something” to settle down prior to the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, rapper Kanye West announced he intends to run for President of the Unites States in 2020.

During an, at times, rambling 13-minute Video Vanguard Award acceptance speech, Kanye recounted his infamous 2009 Taylor Swift stage crash, before going into a long tirade against MTV, which he had just accepted the award from.

Minutes later, in a rant against society’s supposed oppression of young people, the 38-year-old admitted he was under the influence of an unknown substance.

“Ya’ll might be thinking. ‘I wonder, did he smoke something before he came up here?’ The answer is yes, I rolled up a little something to knock the edge off,” Kanye said.

He later referred to himself as a “millennial,” before announcing his candidacy:

“I’m confident. I believe in myself. We the millennials, bro. This is a new mentality. We’re not going to control our kids with brands. We’re not going to teach low self-esteem and hate to our kids. We’re going to teach our kids that they can be something … to believe in themselves.”

“It ain’t about me, It’s about ideas, bro!” Kanye declared.

The rapper then said, “And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president,” before dropping his microphone and exiting the stage.

Host Miley Cyrus then announced she would no longer be supporting Donald Trump, and would be shifting her support to West.

“Trump, you had my vote, but now, Kanye West for president!” she said.
