Online Conspiracy Theorists Say Katy Perry is Actually JonBenét Ramsey

An absurd conspiracy theory regarding the fate of child beauty pageant star JonBenét Ramsey is making its way around the web this week.

Ramsey, 6, was brutally and mysteriously murdered inside her Boulder, Colorado, home in 1996. However, a pair of YouTube users believe otherwise, and they are making the claim that pop singer Katy Perry is actually Ramsey.

Theories over how the deceased girl supposedly became a world-renowned pop star began buzzing online after a 2014 YouTube video from user Dave Johnson resurfaced this week, according to Us Weekly magazine.

On Friday afternoon, the theory was trending No.1 on Facebook.

In the video, Johnson calls Ramsey’s death a “hoax” and describes those who claim she is deceased as “liars.” The YouTuber also says anyone who has ever claimed Ramsey has died is a “false witness to murder and death — that’s a fact.”

Johnson adds, “All of these people are liars, man,” while comparing images of Ramsey and Perry, in addition to comparing images of Perry’s parents to Patsy and John Ramsey.

“Nobody died, nobody got hurt,” he says. “That sacrifice was in name only, and that was to get something, and that something was to become a star. JonBenét became Katy Perry, and that’s a fact.”

Johnson claim Parry’s parents, Keith Hudson and Mary Perry, are in fact Patsy and John Ramsey, and he insists the two have changed their appearances, noting: “He shaved his head. She lost some weight.”

Us Weekly notes YouTube user Jungle Surfer claims to have evidence supporting Johnson’s claim that Perry and Ramsey are the same person by pointing out their similar eyebrows, according to a video from 2015.

“You know, the eyebrows don’t change much on a person,” Jungle Surfer says in his video. “You’re born with your eyebrows. They’re very close, very close indeed, aren’t they? … As you know, this whole entertainment industry is just a charade — you really don’t know the truth.”

Both conspiracy theorists ignore Patsy Ramsey’s 2006 death following a battle with cancer and the fact that JonBenét would be 25 today, while Perry is 31.
