Jackson Browne and Rosanne Cash are among dozens of musicians who will take part in “Concert Across America,” a series of 100 concerts to be held simultaneously in September to push for increased gun control measures and to urge attendees to vote for gun control-supporting politicians in November.

The concerts are slated to take place on September 25, according to the event website.

The countrywide event is being organized by several dozen gun control groups, including Stop Handgun Violence, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, the Brady Campaign and Students Against Campus Carry.

“This powerful coast-to-coast concert and organizing effort will raise awareness and — very importantly — get out the vote on gun violence prevention in the November elections and beyond,” Stop Handgun Violence founder John Rosenthal said in a statement.

Browne and Cash will headline one of the concerts at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, along with Marc Cohn and Harlem’s Gospel for Teens, while the Los Angeles event — at the downtown Standard Hotel — will feature pop singer Ryan Cabrera and former Eagles member Don Felder.

The concert organizers stressed that “more than 33,000 people die from firearms each year.” Breitbart News previously reported that more than 20,000 of these deaths are suicides, and therefore unlikely to be stopped by gun control. Approximately 500 of the 33,000 deaths are accidental, while 10,000-11,000 are the result of actual gun violence. The majority of gun-related deaths occur in cities like Baltimore, Chicago, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Seattle, St. Louis, and other cities where gun control has already proved ineffective.

On June 23 Breitbart News reported that 200 musicians — including Browne, Cash, Paul McCartney and Cher — signed an open letter to Congress calling for increased gun control measures in the wake of the Orlando terrorist attack. It is interesting to note that the Orlando attacker passed a background check and waiting period for his guns. He also passed a psychological evaluation to acquire a Florida state Security Officer license.
