$1000 Reward After Snapping Turtle Beaten On Golf Course

FREEDONIA, Wis. — A $1000 dollar reward is being offered for information related to the beating of a snapping turtle that took place on the Delbrook Golf Course Monday morning in Delavan. According to a warden from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the turtle was struck at least four times with an iron club, including one blow to the head.  To make matters worse, the turtle was apparently pregnant. The golf course superintendent saw the turtle preparing to lay eggs in a bunker at 7:30 a.m. Two hours later it was found beaten with holes in its shell and no eggs were found.  The turtle was brought to a facility that specializes in reptile rescue.

The Global Conservation Group of Watertown is offering the reward and will protect the anonymity of anyone who steps forward with information about this senseless assault.
