Man Accused of Identity Theft To Fund 17 Disney Vacations In 5 Months

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) – Police are attributing an unusual motivation to a man arrested and accused of stealing the identities of 50 people.  According to the Lincolnshire Police Department, Alexander Pera (pictured above) fraudulently procured gift cards, cash and prepaid credit cards worth $50,000 in order to fund 17 Disney vacations within a five month period – including two Disney cruises and 15 visits to Disney World.

The 26-year-old Pera is a former manager of a steak house which is where he allegedly obtained the identities of fellow employees and customers to fuel his Disney habit.  Pera has had several run ins with the law on similar charges in 2009 and 2010 but was never formally charged.

Pera, who lives in Chicago, told police that travel to Disney was worth it in order to get away from everything. He liked to walk around and dine in the park.

His bail has been set $500,000.

Since his arrest, Pera has been frolicking in the second happiest place on earth: jail.
