Couple With Down Syndrome Crowned Homecoming King and Queen

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Two students with Down syndrome made history Friday night in Orange County when they were crowned homecoming king and queen by their fellow students.

Seniors Travjuan “Bubba” Hunter and Semone Adkins were crowned at a ceremony just prior to West Orange High’s football game against Cyprus Creek. 12 students were in contention and the selections were kept top secret until Friday night’s ceremony which was held on the football field.

According to Bubba’s mom, Janice Morgan, Bubba and Semone have been life long friends and the two had never imagined sharing such and honor.

“I am so excited, I am so proud of my son,” Morgan said.

Semone’s mom added, “It was a dream come true, because I always knew that she was going to be something great in this world and this is just the beginning for us.”
