When people are in a hurry, there are things that matter and things that don’t. There is some evidence to suggest that stopping to use the restroom while on an urgent road trip often falls under the latter category. Take for example the story of disgraced former astronaut Lisa Nowak, who was in such a hurry to assault a romantic rival, she reportedly drove 900 miles from to Houston to Orlando wearing adult diapers so as not to slow her roll.
Now, police say 4-foot, 10-inch Christopher Lanning, 40, was in such a hurry to have sex with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, he drove from Kansas to Florida making almost no stops and bypassing bathroom breaks. But according to Longwood Police spokesman Kevin Tuck, Lanning was arrested in an undercover sting operation the department called “To Catch a Predator,” when he pulled into a gas station right next to the high school where he believed the “teenager” to be a student. The “teenager” he was chatting with online turned out to be an undercover officer.
Tuck said, police found a bottle of urine in his car which reportedly wreaked of human waste. “It was pretty bad,” he said.
When the 90-pound Lanning faced the judge Wednesday, he reportedly asked for a “favor,” and then requested to go home. He told the judge he was not a flight risk nor did he have a record of major trouble with the law. He added, “I made a major mistake in judgment.”
His bond was set at $15,300. and he was ordered not to use the computer or the Internet. He faces an array of charges including traveling to meet a child for sex and transmitting obscene material to a minor.
His arraignment is set for May 20.
