Illegal Alien Convicted of Sexually Assaulting a Child Arrested Near Border

EAGLE PASS, TEXAS–48-year-old Luis Gerardo Hernandez-Zanabia, an illegal alien and convicted sex offender, was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol agents on Sunday. After arresting Hernandez-Zanabia in an area southeast of Eagle Pass, officers discovered that the immigrant was previously sentenced to six months in jail for sexually assaulting a child in Pasadena.

Hernandez-Zanabia has been committing crimes on United States soil since 1986.

He has been apprehended for various assaults, criminal trespassing, theft, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving under the influence of illegal drugs. Hernandez-Zanabia has also been arrested multiple times for entering the United States illegally. He was deported on April 19, 2006, and one time prior to that.

It is easy for one to wonder why, given his extensive criminal history in the U.S., the illegal alien is not currently incarcerated. He currently faces one charge of illegal re-entry.

So far this year, Border Patrol agents have arrested a slew of illegal immigrants convicted or accused of committing horrific sex acts on children.

As Breibart News reported earlier this week, 46-year-old Francisco Javier Sanchez, an illegal immigrant accused of child molestation, was arrested on March 2. Subsequent to agents catching Sanchez attempting to leave the U.S., a police database showed an arrest warrant for Sanchez for bail jumping in Georgia. After the warrant was confirmed, it was revealed that it had stemmed from charges of child molestation and sexual battery of a child in 2012. Sanchez was accused of raping his ex-girlfriend’s two teenage daughters.
