Cornyn Launches New TV Ads in Three Languages

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Senator John Cornyn’s reelection bid is not considered to be in any serious danger, but his campaign has been engaged in a significant grassroots outreach effort throughout Texas, including in the state’s Hispanic and Vietnamese communities. As reported by Breitbart Texas, Cornyn’s campaign had previously launched Spanish and Vietnamese versions of the website, and then added Chinese and Hindi as well. The multilingual outreach continues with three new video ads launched this week — one each in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

The English ad, titled “A Steady Hand,” features video from a campaign event in the Rio Grande Valley where several local leaders — including several Democrats — endorsed Cornyn, and says that he “has earned the trust and respect of a vast cross-section of Texans.” One supporter, Rene Ramirez, a Democrat and former Hidalgo County Judge, says about Cornyn, “The only way we’re going to solve problems in Washington is if we send those up there who will be problem solvers, and not be a problem,” adding, “and that’s this man right here,” pointing to Cornyn. The ad ends with the slogan, “He is a steady hand in serious times.”

The Spanish ad adapts this ad and features narration from Cornyn’s daughter, who introduces her father in Spanish: “Mi Papa, el Senador Cornyn, se ha ganado la confianza y respeto, de muchos personas de todas partes de Texas.” (“My father, Senator Cornyn, has earned the trust and respect of many people from all over Texas.”) The ad ends with the same “steady hand” tagline in Spanish: “El tiene una mano estable durante tiempos dificiles.”

Cornyn’s Vietnamese ad again uses the “steady hand in difficult times” slogan (“John Cornyn là m?t tay kiên quy?t vào nh?ng th?i di?m nghiêm tr?ng.”) as well as mentioning his work advocating for human rights in Vietnam

Cornyn Campaign Manager Brendan Steinhauser told Breitbart Texas that the ads were being placed on television stations around Texas, as well as being promoted online, and were a crucial part of the campaign’s ongoing outreach efforts“Senator Cornyn is working hard to reach every community in Texas with his message,” said Steinhauser. “We are communicating in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and other languages to reach voters that may not have been contacted before. This is part of our strategy to defeat Battleground Texas — by being better community organizers than they are.”
