A massive fire with 150-foot flames that were visible from 20 miles away caused home evacuations but no injuries in the rural South Texas community of Cuero.
A gas pipeline from the company Energy Transfer Partners had a rupture after 8 p.m.Sunday.

The Associated Press spoke to Peggy Fonseca with the DeWitt County Emergency Operations Center:
Fonseca said early Monday morning that the gas had been rerouted and the fire was out. She says there were no reports of injuries, but seven homes were evacuated. Residents would be allowed to return after safety inspections were completed.

Montes reported that the Railroad Commission had been called to the scene. No cause has yet been determined for the fire.
