Attkisson: Press Doesn’t Hold Dems Accountable for False Accusations

Sunday on  Fox News Channel’s “MediaBuzz,” investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson said Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) did not apologize for saying Mitt Romney hadn’t paid taxes for ten years because the press does not hold Democrats to the same standards they do Republicans.

Discussing the CNN interview where Reid refused to apologize Attkisson said, “Kudos to Dana Bash for asking the questions. But this would be big news if you were to play the substitution game and put a prominent Republican in his place. Let’s say Romney at the time had falsely accused candidate Obama of not paying taxes for ten years and it was shown to be false, I think that would have made big headlines.”

She added, “Why should he regret it? He’s never really taken to task by the same folks that kind of clamp down and come flock on to someone who makes a mistake, especially from the opposite party. So there’s no reason for him to apologize. In fact he sounded fairly proud of the fact that he thought that was part of why Romney didn’t get elected.”
