McCaul: The Foreign Policy of the Last Three-and-a-Half Years Has Led to the Rise of the Islamic State

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” when asked about Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) comments that President Barack Obama’s policies were directly responsible for the Orlando terrorist attack because he failed to stop the rise of ISIS, House Committee on Homeland Security chairman Rep. Micheal McCaul (R-TX) suggested that was a valid criticism.

McCaul said, “Yeah, I won’t make the personal attack, but I do think the foreign policy that’s been conducted over the last three-and-a-half years since we’ve known about ISIS has led to this. When you fail in foreign policy, this is what happens. We have not had a military strategy for ISIS for the last three-and-a-half years, much less political, diplomatic. As John Brennan talked, the CIA director, they have expanded in their capabilities, not diminished. I agree that the threat level is probably as high as anything we’ve seen since 9/11.”
