During Thursday’s “Power and the Presidency” forum on MSNBC, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) stated that “Nobody’s afraid” of President Donald Trump, and that “it seems as though we are setting up all of the preconditions to a conflict with Iran.”

Murphy said, “Nobody’s afraid of this guy. The Russians, literally within hours of the phone call between Putin and Trump, started advancing on Eastern Ukraine. The Australian prime minister feels like he can yell at the guy over the course of 30 minutes on a conversation.”

He added, “[O]n this question of Iran, I mean, this is truly reckless, because this is a country that could start World War III. And they didn’t fear him. They set off this missile test. Apparently, we are going to immediately snap sanctions upon them, and we’re now telegraphing that if they continue to support these rebels inside Yemen, we are going to hold them responsible for any attacks on Saudi Arabia as well. And so, it seems as though we are setting up all of the preconditions to a conflict with Iran.”
