McConnell: ‘The Ethics Committee Will Have to Consider the Matters’ If Roy Moore Wins

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said if Alabama GOP Senate hopeful Roy Moore wins the special election on December 12, the Ethics Committee would have “to consider the matters.”

McConnell said, “Well, I think — we’re going to let the people of Alabama decide a week from Tuesday who they want to send to the Senate. Then we’ll address the matter. I already said in the past I thought this was a matter to the considered by the committee. Ultimately it will be up to them to make the decision. They’ll make it depending on whether Judge Moore ends up coming to the Senate.”

He added, “The Ethics Committee will have to consider the matters that have been litigated in the campaign  should that particular candidate win.”
