Pompeo on Kansas Senate Speculation: I Intend to Stay as Secretary of State as Long as Trump ‘Will Commit to It’

During an interview aired on Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that he has told people who have suggested he run for the U.S. Senate, “I have a very full plate as secretary of state, and I intend to keep doing this, so long as President Trump will commit to it.”

Pompeo said, “Lots of folks have reached out to me and suggested I ought to do that. I have suggested to them that I have a very full plate as secretary of state, and I intend to keep doing this, so long as President Trump will commit to it.”

Host Martha MacCallum asked, “So, no intention to get involved in the Senate race in Kansas?”

Pompeo responded, “Martha, every day I’m trying to make sure that I’m doing what President Trump wants me to do to keep America safe. That’s my singular focus.”
