Cotton: Coronavirus Mask Shortage ‘a Disgrace’ — ‘We Need to Fix It Now’

During a Tuesday appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) addressed the shortage of medical masks to protect doctors and nurses from contracting the coronavirus while they provide care.

Cotton slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Democratic leadership for removing the provision for legal immunity to mask manufacturers and replacing it with huge fees for “ambulance-chasing lawyers” in the coronavirus spending bill, calling it a “disgrace.”

“Much like we give legal immunity to other legal device manufacturers, Republicans sought to have legal immunity given to these mask manufacturers,” Cotton outlined. “Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats refused. They put huge fees for ambulance-chasing lawyers ahead of the safety of our doctors and nurses, and therefore, ahead of public safety. That’s a disgrace and we need to fix it now.”

Cotton then called on Congress to take a new bill to the floor this week that would protect mask manufacturers.

“It is vitally important that we give this kind of legal protection to those manufacturers, that we care more for public health and our great doctors and nurses rather than the ambulance-chasing lawyers who have Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in their back pocket,” he added.
