Carrie Underwood Breaks With Tradition and Supports Gay Marriage

In the genre of country music, it’s quite common for music stars to voice their support for family traditions, for the enduring norms of American society, and for stories where the boy gets the girl or vice versa.

Because of this, country music stars usually don’t support causes like the banning Christmas trees or pushing gun control or legalizing gay marriage. Nevertheless, country mega-star Carrie Underwood has come out in full support of gay marriage over the past few days.

Said Underwood: “As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love and want to marry. I can’t imagine how that must feel. [And] I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.”

Added Underwood: “We have to love each other and get along with each other. It’s not up to me to judge anybody.”

Call me crazy, but I don’t think this is what Waylon Jennings had this in mind when he sang “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?”
