Susan Sarandon: 'You Can't Just Vote Your Vagina'

Actress Susan Sarandon must feel a bit guilty for backing a man in the current race for New York City mayor.

Sarandon, a reliably progressive voice in Hollywood, told the press that she was initially intrigued by female candidate Christine Quinn in the high-profile campaign. After assessing the issues, Sarandon decided to throw her celebrity behind public advocate Bill de Blasio.

Politics trump gender, according to the Oscar winner.

“As a woman, initially I was interested in Quinn,” Sarandon said at a fundraiser Sunday night, according to Politicker. “It became clear to me that, you know as a woman, you can’t just vote your vagina.”
