Authorities report that Rap artist Andre Johnson cut off his own penis then jumped off the second floor of his apartment building in an apparent suicide bid. He survived the attempt, however, and is in serious condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The rapper, who performs under the names “Christ Bearer” and “Andre Roxx,” mutilated himself and jumped from the building on Wednesday morning, April 16. CNN had no further details on what drove Johnson to his self-destructive actions.
Emergency medical responders recovered his severed member and rushed him to the hospital but doctors would not report on his condition or the possibility about reattaching his severed penis.
Friends were with Johnson at the time and said that he acted without warning. They also insisted no drugs were present. The witnesses told TMZ that there weren’t “any hard drugs that would cause him to do such a thing.”
Johnson is a member of Northstar, a hip hop group discovered by the group Wu-Tang Clan.
His most recent song, Oooh!, debuted on Youtube on Tuesday, only 12 hours before he seriously injured himself.
Johnson also has a film credit to his name. His song, When the Guns Come Out, was included on the movie soundtrack for Blade: Trinity from 2004.
