ABC Family television series The Fosters – which made TV history earlier this year by airing the youngest-ever same-sex kiss between two 13-year-old boys –  took home the award for Outstanding Achievement in Youth Programming at the 31st annual Television Critics Association awards on Saturday night.

The award marked the second consecutive TCA Youth Programming win for The Fosters, which began its third season in June.

The show centers on the biological, adopted and foster children of police officer Stef (Teri Polo) and her wife Lena (Sherri Saum), a school vice principal.

The show made waves in March when a second-season episode featured a same-sex kiss between 13-year-old boys Jude (Hayden Byerly) and Connor (Gavin MacIntosh).

The kiss ignited a debate on social media over whether The Fosters is considered appropriate to air on a family network. Family organization One Million Moms had protested the show before its first season aired, saying ABC Family had “lost their minds” and that “none of this material is acceptable content for a family show.”

The Fosters picked up the award for Outstanding Drama Series at the 2014 GLAAD Awards, and was nominated in the category again this year before ultimately losing to ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder.

Other big winners at this year’s TCA Awards included Empire (Program of the Year), Better Call Saul (Outstanding New Program), Jon Hamm (Individual Achievement in Drama, Mad Men) and Amy Schumer (Individual Achievement in Comedy, Inside Amy Schumer).
