The war of words between actors Robert De Niro and Jon Voight intensified Monday after the Godfather star called Voight “delusional” for defending Donald Trump.

Voight released a torrent of tweets criticizing De Niro, who, in an outtake for a celebrity voter registration PSA posted on Saturday, called the Republican Presidential candidate “blatantly stupid.”

De Niro hit back at Voight Sunday, calling the Academy Award-winning actor “delusional.”

“Voight is a nice guy, but he’s delusional,” De Niro said Sunday during a press conference at the Palazzo Versace Dubai, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

De Niro was in Dubai to promote his and billionaire James Packer’s $250 million investment in a resort project in Barbuda.

When asked what question he might ask of Trump, De Niro reportedly said “I don’t even know what kind of question to ask him because he’s so stupid. There’s nothing to talk about.”

In the outtake from the celebrity voter registration PSA, De Niro called Trump a “punk” and a “bullshit artist” before adding that he’d “like to punch him in the face.”

Reacting to De Niro’s harsh remarks, Voight tweeted “If any Republican said words like Robert DeNiro used – against Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama? All hell would break loose.”

Trump faced a barrage of criticism Friday over lewd remarks he made about women in a caught-on-tape conversation in 2005 with former Access Hollywood anchor Billy Bush.

Trump apologized for his comments, but not before a bevy of establishment Republicans, including Mitt RomneyJeb Bush, and Carly Fiorina, demanded he leave the presidential race.

“How can you align yourself with that, it’s shameful?” De Niro said Sunday. The American people “have to vote, they must vote, it’s imperative that you vote, it’s a very serious situation.”

“Everybody has to be vigilant to make sure that this guy does not become President.” De Niro said. “Let’s not win by a margin, let’s make sure he’s crushed.. that he’s not around because he represents so many horrible things.”

Asked about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, De Niro said, “You might feel that you cannot trust Hillary on certain things, but you feel she’s a grown up and she’s capable of being President.”
