Donald Sterling: I Made Racist Comments to Try to Have Sex with V. Stiviano

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling claims on a recording that he made racist comments to V. Stiviano because he was trying to have sex with her.

“I’m talking to a girl. I’m trying to have sex with her,” Sterling says on a recording to a friend that Radar Online released on Friday. “I’m trying to play with her. If you were trying to have sex with a girl and you’re talking to her privately and you don’t think anybody’s there, you may say anything in the world!”

Sterling claimed that he was jealous of Magic Johnson and would say anything to compete with him for a girl — even exaggerate the size of his penis.

“The picture is not [the issue],” says. “I wish Magic Johnson was talking to a girl and you trying to play with her, and you might say anything. You might say you have the biggest penis in the world! I would have said I could fly over a high rise building if I had to!”

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for life after a recording surface in which Sterling says he did not want Stiviano to bring any “black people” to his games, but Sterling believes his team should not be taken away from him because he said “the wrong thing to a girl.”

“The girl is black,” Sterling says. “I like her. I’m jealous that she’s with other black guys. I want her. So what the hell. Can’t I in private tell her, ‘I don’t want you to be with anybody?'”

“So they should take away for life your team [if] you say the wrong thing to a girl?… I know what I said was wrong. But I never thought the private conversation would go anywhere, out to the public,” Sterling continues. “I didn’t want her to bring anybody to my games because I was jealous! I mean, I’m being honest. Doesn’t matter.”

The NBA appointed former Time Warner CEO Dick Parsons as CEO of the Clippers on an interim basis on Friday as Silver tries to force a sale of the team. NBA players have suggested they may boycott the start of the next season if Sterling still owns the Clippers.
