Two Sonoma County teenagers were arrested last week after allegedly using a stolen credit card to rent a $12 million vacation home and a $240,000 orange McLaren sports car, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.
Mohannad Halaweh and Nhimia Kahsay, both 19, were taken into custody by police on Wednesday after they were busted driving the sports car, which was reported stolen even though they had apparently paid $13,000 to rent it.
A subsequent investigation found that in addition to the McLaren, the teens had allegedly put $27,000 on the stolen card to rent a $12 million vacation house in Glen Ellen, according to the report.
Each teen was booked on separate charges. Halaweh faces possession of stolen property and credit card fraud charges, and his bail has been set at $100,000; Kahsay was arrested on outstanding fraud charges, and, according to Sonoma County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Raasch, will face “additional charges in connection with the most recent incident.” Kashsay’s bail is set at $60,000.
