Oh Mullah Where Art Thou?

One year ago, we broke the exclusive story that Mullah Omar, spiritual leader of the Taliban movement and close Osama Bin Laden ally, had been taken into custody by the Pakistani ISI.

Yesterday, Jon Boone of the Guardian, interviewed Afghanistan’s former intelligence chief, Amrullah Saleh. In the interview, Saleh says that he has no doubts that Mullah Omar has been hiding in a safe house owned by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the Pakistani spy agency:

He is protected by ISI, General Pasha [Lieutenant-General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, director-general of the ISI] knows as I am talking to you where is Mullah Omar and he keeps daily briefs from his officers about the location of senior Taliban leaders, simple.

Writing in the New York Daily News today, former U.S. assistant secretary of defense, Bing West, in an article entitled More commando raids, please: We got Bin Laden, now let’s get the Taliban’s Mullah Omar, too says:

That Bin Laden was hiding in plain sight demonstrates the complicity of the Pakistan government. Now that he has been eliminated, the question should be: Who is next…

This is not the time for the White House to take a bow and lower the curtain on the stage. Instead, Omar should be the next enemy commander to be struck down.

Leave it to a U.S. Marine to tell it to you straight. I agree with Mr. West 100%.

And while we wait to see what’s going to be done about Mullah Omar, I invite you all to sit back and enjoy the hot new cocktail sweeping the United States – the Scotch Bin Laden. It’s very simple. Just two shots and a splash of water.

I can’t wait to see what kind of drink we come up with for Mullah Omar.
