SOTU 2014: Obama Honors Diplomats Before Men, Women in Uniform

During the 2014 State of the Union address (SOTU) President Obama spoke of “a sense of common cause” and service to our communities and our country. Thereafter he mentioned diplomats before he mentioned our men and women in uniform.

Said Obama

Citizenship demands a sense of common cause; participation in the hard work of self-government; an obligation to serve our communities. And I know that this chamber agrees that few Americans give more to their country than our diplomats and the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.
